Heroic Name: Kid Terrific
Real Name: Cathy Beamish Nickname: The Fair Play Girl Age: 19 Appearance: an attractive, athletic young woman, with long red hair, wearing a garish skintight red, yellow and green outfit, with a yellow triangle on the outfit's torso that reads "Fair Play" in stylized script Powers: an incredible athlete and highly skilled in hand to hand combat. She has an implanted memory enhancer that allows her to mentally access external databases. In her belt are hundreds of memory modules, with information on any subject she thinks a Legionnaire might need, and the Justice Enforcement Division of the government has a library of thousands more such memory modules. Cathy's uniform is body armor, a kevlar-like material that is very damage resistant. It has build in shock absorbers as well. While she is using the hand-to-hand combat module, Cathy is one of the best fighters in human history, better than Batman or Karate Kid. Cathy has a plastic insert on the back of her head, covered by her long hair. There are 4 dime-sized sockets in this insert. Her belt contains hundreds of dime-sized memory modules. When she wants to be an expert on something, she types a description of the subject into the keypad on her wrist, and the proper module or combination of modules pop out of the belt, and she then inserts them into the sockets. There are two that she almost never changes, one of them is sort of a 'what does a super-hero have to know?' module, and the other one is an unarmed combat module. Each module can contain the knowledge of, say, hundreds of humans on a specific subject. Some of the modules contain information contributed by General Urbane (Vandal Savage), so on some subjects, Cathy not only gets the modern knowledge of that subject but everything Savage learned about it over his 9,000+ years of existence. In Legion HQ, there was a library of millions of modules, and Urbane had a team working on adding knowledge to that library on a daily basis. But now it is gone, and Cathy only has the modules that were in her belt when the Legion escaped from Amgov. History: very few people can tolerate the implanted memory module, and only about 1 in a billion can use it as naturally as her own brain. Cathy is one of those rare individuals. Because she had the ability to use the module system so well, the Legion PR hacks decided to try to tie her image to that of Mr. Terrific, trying to improve the Legion's visibility and credibility in the eyes of the public. She had no say in choosing this identity, and it didn't matter to her if she didn't exemplify Mr. Terrific's legacy or not, it was a totally cynical decision by the Legion's PR group. In fact, Cathy was taught to fight by some of the most vicious fighters of her time, including Vandal Savage, and at the time she fought ApeFace she really didn't give a damn about Mr. Terrific's legacy. Cathy loves being able to be an instant expert on anything. Comments: Note that General Urbane and his team had pretty strong censorship over the stuff in these modules, so the history that Cathy can learn from her modules, for example, and the political science, are both biased towards Amgov's views. Expression: "As you know, [name of subject] is something of a speciality of mine" |
